What Is Aromatherapy?

René-Maurice Gattefossé

wrote the first book on aromatherapy

An article in  Healthline  describes aromatherapy as “a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being. Sometimes it’s called essential oil therapy. “
According to the   National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA)   Aromatherapy is described as both an art and a science because it takes the knowledge of the scientific aspects of the plants and oils and combines it with the art of producing a beneficial blend. Basically, a successful aromatherapy blend is a synergy of science, art, and the practitioner’s knowledge of both, and how to apply it.
The   Alliance of International Aromatherapists (AIA) reports   that one of the uses of aromatherapy is to strengthen the self-healing processes by preventative methods and indirect stimulation of the immune system.
Although aromatherapy has gained more recognition in the fields of science and medicine it is not a license profession.

Once you get familiar with the nuances of aromatherapy and
learn the basics, let your intuition be your guide.
This is where the true healing power of essential oils happens!
